Mobile Application is the big thing in management. If you want to create a mobile application in SAP Design Studio, SAP have some
recommendations:

• Keep the application simple and don’t use too many components
• Don’t use crosstab components for smartphone applications
• Limit the total number of cells in your crosstab to 500 for tablet applications

I hope everybody stick to this recommendations or we will see people looking like that:

To scale sensibly an application on the mobile platform, the setting for height and width for tables and diagrams must be set to AUTO. Butons and other components must be
displayed large enough to be used. After the mobile application is build, it must be published on the BI platform.

Step 1: Log on to BI platfrom and select the desired application

Step 2: Right click and select Mobile Properties

Step 3: Select Display on mobile

Step 4: Send application into the BI Inbox

Step 5: Application is now available on mobile

If a SAP Design Studio Application has been developed in local mode or on a develop machine, these can be exported and then imported into a new system. Here is a short guide.

Step 1: Choose Application >> Export

Step 2: Add refrence files like logos etc.

Step 3: Select export folder and name and close with finish.

Step 1: Choose Application >> Import

Step 2: Select the zip file directory

Step 3: Define name and description for the application.

Step 4: Import reference files

Step 5: Choose mapping of data sources.

Step 6: Finish

Here is a short guide how to update an extension in SAP Design Studio.

1. Select Help >> About

2. Select Installed Software tab

3. Select the desired addin and click either Update or Uninstall.

In this article I describe in a short manual how to set up Eclipse for Design Studio.

1. Open Eclispe and choose Window >> Preferences.

2. Select Target Platform in the Preferences dialog.

3. Add a new Target Platform by click on Add.

4. Start with an empty target definition.

5. Define a Name for the Target Content and click Add.

6. After Design Studio has already been installed, it must be selected as the source „Directory“. Then scroll to the installation of Design Studio.

7. Click Next and you see a list of plugins. Click Finish to close the dialog.

8. Click Finish to save the target definition.

9. Set the Target Platform as default.

The information what you need to use Design Studio including the SDK can be found on many places. My problem was there is no guide
where you find everything and here is a list:

1. Download the newest version of Design
   Studio
2. Download Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers
3. Download Design Studio SDK

The actual developer guide can be found here: http://help.sap.com/boad

Note: Download always the same version (If Design Studio 64Bit, then also Eclispe 64Bit). If the architecture isn’t the same, you can’t develop with the SDK.

The Preferred Startup Mode of Design Studio decides where an application is developed and saved.

On Local Mode all applications are only on the developer machine. If you choose SAP NetWeaver the development is saved in BW and you can
publish it on a SAP Portal. More information can be foun in the admin guide of Design Studio.

Note: If you decide to skip the „logon to“ dialog box, design studio starts in local mode.

Sometimes Design Studio crashes during start after installation of a new version. I found two threads in the SCN. The simple solution is to uninstall Design Studio, rename the following folder:

• C:Users<user>Analysis-config
• C:Users<user>Analysis-workspace

and reinstall Design Studio again. Maybe sometimes it is enough to rename only the folders. More Design Studio troubleshooting can be find in the Design Studio

I just want to implement a button which should print my application. I found a tutorial, which says the code is APPLICATION.PRINT. But when I write the coding in Design Studio, .Print isn’t available.

Now I am confused. After a little research, I found following Post. So you can write
APPLICATION.PRINT and the script editor strikes out print.

But this coding works. Maybe in further releases the print function will be deleted.
